HandicapMaster Competition Formats

HandicapMaster will process many different competition formats, as follows:

  • Singles
  • Foursomes
  • Greensomes
  • Four Ball Better Ball
  • 2 Player 'Aggregate Pairs' Competitions
  • 2 player Scramble (off 1/4 combined handicap)
  • 3 and 4 player Texas Scrambles
  • 3 and 4 Player Team Competitions (often called 'Am/Am' or 'Bowmaker' competitions)
  • 3 players - Best 1 score (first 6 holes), best 2 scores (next 6 holes) and best 3 scores (last 6 holes) counting.
  • 3 player Waltz - Best 1,2,3,1,2,3,... scores counting

These may be Stroke-play, Stableford or Par (Bogey or vPar) formats.
Rounds may be played over 9, 10, 11, .. to 18 holes.

Competition Details

Singles

These are singles Stroke Play competitions, such as Medals, Stablefords, etc, where each player competes separately.
'Alternative Day' competitions (played over more than one day, where players may choose which day they wish to play) are supported, along with multiple round competitions (36 holes, 72 holes, etc).

Foursomes

This is a 2 player team competition, where each team plays one ball (players taking alternative strokes).

Greensomes

This is a 2 player team competition, where both players in the team tee off, with the best drive selected and players taking alternative strokes for the rest of the hole.

Four Ball Better Ball

For this format of competition, players play in teams of two, with the best score from either player counting on each hole.

2 Player 'Aggregate Pairs' Competitions

This is a 2 player team competition where both player's scores count (often called 'Aggregate Pairs' competitions).
Note: Due to restrictions within the CONGU UHS, running this competition format as a Handicap Qualifying competition is not supported.

2 player Scrambles

For this format of competition, players play in pairs. All players play from the same location, chosen from the best result of the previous stroke.

3 and 4 player Texas Scrambles

For this format of competition, players play in teams of three or four. All players play from the same location, chosen from the best result of the previous stroke.

3 and 4 Player Team Competitions

The following 3 and 4 player team competitions (often called 'Am/Am' or 'Bowmaker' competitions) are supported.

Eight types of team competitions are available. These are

  1. Three Player Team (Best 1 score each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of three, with the best score from the three players counting on each hole.

  2. Three Player Team (Best 2 scores each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of three, with the best two scores from the three players counting on each hole.

  3. Three Player Team (All 3 scores each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of three, with all three scores from the three players counting on each hole.

  4. Four Player Team (Best 1 score each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of four, with the best score from the four players counting on each hole.

  5. Four Player Team (Best 2 scores each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of four, with the best two scores from the four players counting on each hole.

  6. Four Player Team (Best 3 scores each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of four, with the best three scores from the four players counting on each hole.

  7. Four Player Team (Best 2, 3 then 4 scores each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of four. For the first six holes, the best two scores from the four players count for each hole. For holes 7 to 12, the best three scores from the four players count for each hole. For the last six holes, scores from all four players count for each hole.

  8. Four Player Team (Best 4, 3 then 2 scores each hole)
    For this format of competition, players play in teams of four. For the first six holes, scores from all four players count for each hole. For holes 7 to 12, the best three scores from the four players count for each hole. For the last six holes, the best two scores from the four players count for each hole.

3 Player Team Competitions

Best 1 score (first 6 holes), best 2 scores (next 6 holes) and best 3 scores (last 6 holes) counting.

3 Player Waltz

1 score 1st hole, 2 scores 2nd hole, 3 scores third hole, repeating (often called a 'Waltz').
