Changes in Version 12

What's new in HandicapMaster 12

Entering Scores

If you or a player records '0' against a hole when entering a score, this is now displayed as PU (Picked Up) on the scorecard.
If you or a player records Did not play against a hole when entering a score, this is now displayed as NP (Not Played) on the scorecard.
This new designation is carried through to the reports (such as 'Scorecards from a Competition') generated from HandicapMaster, too.
In HandicapMaster, an additional button Pick Up is added to the scorecard screen toolbar. When used, this records a 'Picked Up' score for the selected hole.
Revised Score entry screen
When entering a score using a full keyboard, you may now press letter 'P' to record a Pick-up, or 'N' to record a Hole Not Played.
When using Player Entry in Touchscreen mode, the keypad drawn on screen is modified to include separate PICKED UP and NOT PLAYED buttons.

Following a change in the Rules of Golf (2023), the option to apply a 'round penalty' to a score in a Stableford or Par competition (Rule 21) is removed.

Players

Shared PIN Numbers

You may now allocate the same PIN number to more than one player.
When a player enters a shared PIN number into the Player Entry screen, Player Entry will ask which player they are from the list of players sharing that PIN number.
A warning is displayed when editing a member record if the edit results in the member sharing a PIN number. You may cancel this warning message from being displayed through FILE -> OPTIONS -> MEMBERSHIP tab.
A new Membership report PIN Numbers (Shared) is added that lists any players who are sharing a PIN Number.

Visitors

To simplify using HandicapMaster, the split of Visitor records between Visitors and Casual Visitors is removed. All Visitor records are now listed under the one heading and one list titled 'Visitors'.
When viewing the 'Opened Competitions' and 'Closed Competitions' lists, new 'Visitors' columns indicate whether Visitors are/were eligible to be included in the competition(s).
It is now possible to enter a non-numeric National ID from another country when a visitor is marked as Out of Region (WHS Editions).

Competitions

Varying team sizes in team competitions

In a wider selection of team competition formats, you may now mix teams consisting of different numbers of players in the competitions. For example, you may now include teams of 1 player in Four-ball competitions (where their partner has not been able to play), or mix teams of 2, 3 or 4 players in the same Scramble competition.
The Competition Template wizard is partially redesigned to allow configuration of number of players required to make up a team, in the qualifying team competition templates.

Disqualifications

Following a change in the Rules of Golf (2023), the list of possible rules that may be selected as a reason for a player being disqualified is updated.

The report for a range of dates also includes the overall total of these values for the selected date range.

ClubWebsite

A new theme called Modern is added, with the aim to provide the option to create a website where the home page has a full-page slide-show of high-quality photographs, showing your course or club off to its best!
Clubwebsite using Modern Theme
When you add a Picture Carousel to a page, you now have the option to upload 'Full Page' photographs (ones with a minimum of 1600 pixels wide and either a minimum of 640 or 1200 pixels high). When you combine this with the new 'Modern' theme, you can create a website with full page photos introducing the website.
You may now elect to 'hide' a section from the menus on the website. Where you do, you may consider using a new page item 'Sections - Table of Contents' on an alternative page to offer links to all pages in the hidden section. This could be used to avoid too many sections being added to the menus.

Subscriptions Option

The Subscriptions Full Details report now includes the names of past members assigned to a subscription template.

A new alert is added to the HandicapMaster program which will display when access to a WHS Handicapping service is not available. This may be because an End User Agreement with that handicapping service has expired, or access has been withdrawn by the handicapping service, or the handicapping service cannot be contacted.
When scores are recorded using version 12, an indicator is now applied to show whether the score was entered using HandicapMaster, Player Entry or online through Master Scoreboard.
