The Master Scoreboard™ Email Notification Service

The Master Scoreboard Email Notification Service sends an email to subscribers when
  • the club publishes data to Master Scoreboard (from HandicapMaster™)
  • the player books into a competition, cancels a booking or a reserves list entry is promoted [only if Master Scoreboard is used for bookings]
  • the player has forgotten the Master Scoreboard password and needs to set a new password to log in
Club members may subscribe to the MasterScoreboard Email Notification Service provided that:
  • The club requires members to log on to Master Scoreboard using individual passwords
  • The club has enabled the Email Notification Service for its members
  • The member has set an individual password to log on to Master Scoreboard
Members may unsubscribe or suspend notifications at any time.

Service Description

Operation

Data Publication When the Club publishes data to MasterScoreboard, a list of members to be notified is generated. This list is based on the members' preferences, including the frequency of notifications and when the previous notification was sent.
Each member on the notification list is sent an email to the subscribed address. The message also includes the player's current handicap, the last handicap event (usually competition result) and (if appropriate) the player's next booking or start time.
Bookings When a player is booked into a competition, a confirmation email is sent. The message gives the date, time and venue for the event. The names of the playing partners are also given, if appropriate.
A similar message is sent when a booking is cancelled or a reserves list entry is promoted.
Password Reset When a member has forgotten his/her Master Scoreboard password, a reset can be requested by entering the email address registered for notifications.
A message is sent to the registered email address containing a link. Clicking the link allows a new password to be set, after which the link is invalidated.
Note: Password reset is only allowed using the registered email address for notifications. Otherwise, a manual reset by the Club's Master Scoreboard Administrator is required.
All notification emails include an explanation of why the notification was sent and a link which can be used to cancel the subscription.

Registration

Registration is a two-part process, so that email addresses can be validated.
  1. The member enters the notification details, including the email address and the service preferences. A confirmation email is sent to the specified address, containing a confirmation code.
  2. The member enters the confirmation code into their details, or clicks on the confirmation link in the email

Information for Players

You may only subscribe to the Master Scoreboard Email Notification Service if your club requires individual passwords for its members to login to Master Scoreboard. The club must also have enabled the service for its members.
You must complete the registration process to confirm your email address before any notifications will be sent. Notifications can be suspended (e.g. for a holiday period) and resumed without needing to complete the registration again, provided that the email address is not changed.
Notifications are sent according to the preferences that you have selected. These can be amended at any time.

Change Notification Preferences

The current status of your notification preferences is shown on the 'My Golf' page. To change the settings, click on the 'Email Notifications' link.
  • Change the notification status as required.
  • Set the email address to which messages will be sent.
    • To protect your privacy and security, your email address is encrypted on the system and cannot be viewed by other members or the club administrators.
    • If the address is changed, no notifications will be sent until the address has been verified using the registration process above.
  • Enter the confirmation code [only during the registration process]
  • Select which notifications are sent and the minimum time between notifications for data publication. The time interval stops you receiving messages too frequently.
  • Click SAVE to update your preferences.
Note: If your password is reset (to the club default) by your club's Master Scoreboard Administrator, notifications are disabled and your preferences are discarded.

Information for Club Administrators

The MasterScoreboard Email Notification Service may only be used if the club requires members to log in to MasterScoreboard using individual passwords. Individual passwords can be turned on using the MasterScoreboard Control-Panel.

Enable or Disable the Email Notification Service

To enable or disable the service for your members:
  1. Log on the the MasterScoreboard Control-Panel
  2. Click on UPDATE CLUB INFORMATION
  3. In the Options, select whether the service is enabled or disabled.
  4. Enter the email address for the club. Notification messages appear to be sent from this address and members may reply to it.
  5. Click CONTINUE.
Note: These options are only shown if individual passwords have been turned on for the club

List Members Notification Status

This option is only shown if the Email Notification Service is enabled for the club
To report on the notification status of members with individual passwords:
  1. Log on the the MasterScoreboard Control-Panel
  2. Click on EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS. This will display a list of members, with the status of their subscription to the Email Notification Service and (if applicable) the date and time of the last notification message sent.
    Note: Email addresses are not displayed
