Error 'Ordinal 71 could not be located' running Gemself Terminal Diagnostics

If you have installed the Gemself Terminal to a Windows XP machine and you receive the following error message when selecting Test Reader in Control Panel, then the CNFGCR program has likely installed an out-of-date DLL file into the \windows\system32 folder.

To repair this:

  1. Download the replacement W32GCHAN.DLL file. This is version 4.30.0.2.
  2. Restart the computer. Complete steps 3 to 6 before starting the Smart Card Reader option in Control Panel.
  3. Start Windows Explorer.
  4. Navigate to the \Windows\System32 folder.
  5. Unzip the downloaded file and replace the existing file W32GCHAN.DLL (version 4.20.0.2) with the downloaded file.
  6. Check the version of the file in \windows\system32 is now 4.30.0.2 (right click over the file in Windows Explorer, click PROPERTIES, then the VERSION tab).
