Avoid Handicaps showing as Inactive after transfer to HandicapMaster database
Note: This FAQ does not apply to CONGU handicapping edition users in Scotland or Ireland.
With the introduction of Active/Inactive Handicaps to the CONGU Unified Handicapping System from January 2010, there is a potential for players having their handicap records transferred into HandicapMaster to have their Handicap marked Inactive inappropriately.
There are two ways to avoid this included in the HandicapMaster 2010 software onwards.
Note: These options are only available for those countries where active/inactive handicapping is in force (initially England and Wales from 1st January 2010).
-
A new menu item Override Active/Inactive Handicap Status is added to the Handicapping menu.
This option allows a player to be selected from a list and have their active/inactive status reversed. This override will stay in place until the end of the year.
At the end of the year, all overrides are removed automatically, ready for the new season (CONGU regulations).
-
When adding new members and issuing their handicap, a choice of designation of Handicap Brought Forward is available. You may choose...
- "Handicap Brought Forward"
- "Handicap Brought Forward (1 Qualifying Score Returned)"
- "Handicap Brought Forward (2 Qualifying Scores Returned)"
- "Handicap Brought Forward (3+ Qualifying Scores Returned)"
This allows HandicapMaster to know how many qualifying scores have been returned in the current season, prior to the start of records in HandicapMaster.
Option 2 is the recommended option, as in some situations it may be necessary to apply the manual override twice for a player (current season and next), whereas setting the Handicap Brought Forward record resolves this issue once and for all.
