HandicapMaster NETWORK Edition - For Network Installations

Why is NETWORK Edition recommended for a Network Installation?

There are a number of reasons why HandicapMaster NETWORK edition is our recommended solution in a network environment.

• Better tolerance of network or PC failures by use of transaction logging

• Better backup facilities

• Better data security

• Possibility of remote access by officials *

Microsoft has made the "SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" available at no cost. This is sufficient for running the HandicapMaster NETWORK edition.

Microsoft SQL Server uses modern technology and best practise and is being actively developed.

While our CLUB and PREMIER editions can be networked together using Windows file sharing this solution is less flexible. This has lower performance and can support a fewer number of users. In addition due to the limitations of the underlying database technology there is less tolerance of network or PC failures. It is for these reasons we recommend the NETWORK edition of HandicapMaster for larger network installations.

NETWORK edition is not supported on Windows 98 or Windows ME. Detailed NETWORK System Requirements are available.

Please note: We will continue to support existing customers with Windows file-share based network installations of our CLUB and PREMIER editions.

In addition if your requirement is for a small network (e.g. a couple of PC's) then Windows file share networking is probably most appropriate. To discuss this further please contact us.
