HandicapMaster 'Cloud' Solution

How it works

The HandicapMaster 'Cloud' offering allows customers to access their HandicapMaster data remotely via the internet. It does not require a customer to set up their own servers and eliminates the need to purchase additional hardware.
When the HandicapMaster database is placed in the 'Cloud', the database is installed on the high-availability servers provided and run by Microsoft, rather than on a computer at the club.
Customers may then run HandicapMaster software on any Windows PC (provided it is connected to the Internet). They have full access and control of the HandicapMaster system from any location (such as from home), as well as from the club computers.

Is Cloud right for you?

Advantages

  • Painless installation - no worries about running a server at the golf club
  • Remotely accessible - the Competition Secretary can control HandicapMaster from home as well as at the golf club
  • No more worrying about backups
  • Officials can share the database at the same time eliminating the need to manage and pass database backups between themselves

Disadvantages

  • Reliable internet connection needed - if Internet is down, so is HandicapMaster
  • Performance may be restricted by quality of internet connection used
The HandicapMaster WHS and Local handicapping SILVER and GOLD editions are available in 'Cloud' versions.

Microsoft's global network of computer centres

When the HandicapMaster database is hosted, it is installed on the computers that are managed by Microsoft as part of their 'Windows Azure' global network.
With a Service Level Agreement from Microsoft expecting their systems to be available 99.95% of the time (all but about 20 minutes in a month) and based on resilience to hardware failures, your data will be installed onto some of the most reliable systems available.
